SOFIE VALKIERS’S SPRING TIPS

1 / POP THOSE MONOCHROMES

Bright monochromes are a huge thing this Spring, so if you’re looking for an updated styling of your slip dress, go with a bold colour (such as this gorgeous orange one that I picked out from Iro Paris). Without thinking twice, pair it with another bold monochrome piece, preferably in a clashing shade (such as red or baby pink like this Can Pep Ray sweat). There’s honestly nothing that says Spring more than a bright colour palette!

2 / DON’T BE AFRAID TO GO WITH AN UNUSUAL FABRIC COMBO

Since we’re not quite in Summer dress season yet you’ll want to work with layers during these first weeks of the new season. And as a shirt just won’t cut it just yet you can definitely opt for something heavier, such as a sweatshirt. Don’t worry about pairing basic (cotton) and rich (silk) fabrics; it’s actually all the more appealing to work with this contrast, to achieve that perfect laid back/chic vibe that I love so much. As long as your heavier piece doesn’t disturbingly show through your delicate dress, it’s all good.

3 / ADD THIS SEASON’S IT FOOTWEAR

Mules are the easiest way to make your outfit instantly on trend, especially the kitten heeled versions (proof and proof). As a way of balancing out the bright colours of the rest of your outfit, opt for a pair in a muted shade, such as these grey ones. Added plus: they make your ankles look extra slim without having to brave sky-high heels – very important if you’re carrying some extra weight on top! 🙂  My mule crush of this month, is this new silk version by Pedro Garcia.
